A new generation of applied ethicists specialised on problems of AI technology, autonomous systems and related fields has to be trained. The EU should systematically and immediately invest in developing the future expertise needed within the relevant political institutions, and it should do so aiming at an above-average, especially high level of academic excellence and professionality.
